Privacy policy

This site is run by The Firdale, an owner-managed house on Firdale Road in Sea Point, Cape Town. It is a small brochure site: there is no account to create, no booking engine and no payment processing here. Reservations happen on Booking.com, Airbnb or Cinnamon Toast, and each of those platforms applies its own privacy policy to the data you give it.

The only personal information this site collects is what you type into the register an interest form on the Own it page: your email address, your mobile number and the offer amount. That information is stored securely and emailed to the owner so the enquiry can be answered. It is used for nothing else, is never sold, and is never passed to advertisers or third-party marketers.

A small cookie records whether you have dismissed the cookie notice, so it is not shown on every visit. That preference stays in your browser. Standard server logs may hold the usual request information, such as IP address, timestamp and user agent, for security and troubleshooting. There is no advertising network, no cross-site tracking pixel and no profiling on this site.

Enquiry records are kept only as long as the sale conversation is live, and are deleted after that. Under South Africa's POPIA and, where it applies, the GDPR, you may ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Send the request through the enquiry form on the Own it page and it will be actioned, normally within a few days.
